Design Philosophy

Born and raised in High Point, North Carolina, sisters Heath and Landon Slane came to the business of designing jewelry with the resources that might otherwise have put them through graduate school.  After varied career explorations and experiences in Santa Fe, Los Angeles and New York, the sisters came together in 1995 with the vision of creating sterling silver designer jewelry with the same quality and detail that historically had been dedicated only to gold and platinum.

Numerous childhood influences would shape their design sensibility, not the least of which was an utter fascination with their stylish and worldly grandmothers.  Portraying restrained elegance with flourishes of a grand scale or splashes of vibrant color, the girls’ eyes were trained on a style that never looked predictable, but always looked appropriate.  It is this sensibility which defines their design aesthetic.

Distinctive finishes in both their sterling silver and 18 karat gold designs characterize collections which are at once familiar but new. Drawing inspiration from a myriad of sources, each symbolic to one or the other, the sisters have defined a look that seamlessly complements the wardrobes of women in the workplace, out for the evening or at play on the weekend.  Worn individually, mixed or matched, Slane & Slane’s Collections are appreciated both for their understated elegance as well as for their playful exuberance.
