The Column Collection, one of Heath and Landon’s earliest architecturally inspired collections is a frequent playground of inspiration. With numerous variations on this theme introduced to date, the spring 2009 collection reveals how facile the sisters are at interpreting these simple yet abundant architectural details into jewelry. Eye-catching earth stones in aventurine, carnelian and onyx attract the first glance after which the beaded, ridged and smooth metal detail which is the foundation of all Column designs is readily apparent. Instantly recognizable as a first cousin to Column, a great Slane & Slane collector upon seeing a prototype of the design gasped “beautiful.” And so, the Latin word for beautiful or pretty, Bellus was added to Column to afford distinction to this growing family of designs.
